Got a New Car! :)

Well, a new to us car!

Remember I told you we were going to see about either a Isuzu Rodeo or a Dodge Durango? Well, we couldn't get financing for the Rodeo, so we got the Durango.

Ain't it pretty?? (the pic is from the web, but just like ours) Yeah, I think so too....loved it! Unfortunately, we ended up taking it back the very next day after we got it. The "check gauges" light kept coming on, and oil pressure was dropping waaay down. It didn't do this when we test drove it. So MrKB took it back to see if they could get it fixed (it had a warranty, fortunately) and after they replaced some parts, it was still doing the same thing. Seems like it may possibly be the oil pump....but the owner said he'd hate to find out that didn't fix it either, so offered us our choice of other vehicles on the lot. Some that weren't even quite ready to be sold yet.

This is what we ended up with:

A 2001 Ford Taurus. Right around 73,000 miles on it, which is A LOT less than the Durango had. It's not what I was wanting, and I never thought I'd actually own a Ford, but it's pretty nice. Just the right size, power everything, and a 6-disc cd player. It's one of the cars that wasn't quite ready to be sold, so it needs to be detailed inside, but it's not totally trashed or anything. Just needs a bit of cleaning up. I can already tell it's going to get a hell of a lot better gas mileage than our van! That's a definite plus.

Any of y'all ever had one? What did you think of it? Did you have any probs with it at all? Let me know...I'm still not completely sure what I think of this car, but I'll probably end up loving it, just will take some getting used to! One things for sure, it's the "newest" car I've ever had! :)

I think you'll be fine with the Taurus. Thee are a LOT of them on the road so there's probably not any thing wrong with the model as a whole.

Enjoy our new vehicle. It always fun to get new things.

I had a 4 yr. old '89 Taurus as my first car. I loved it. We called it the G-ride and I literally drove it into the ground. I think it's a great family car w/ way better mileage than an SUV would get.

Nice Car! Congrats!
My parents both had Mercury Sables which are pretty much the same as a Taurus. They loved theirs.
My mom now has a Mountaineer.

I had an older, I think 89, Taurus. I LOVED IT!!! Though, it was a wagon...

These days, I am a truck girl, the closest I can get to a truck though is my expedition, have to hall these kids around, ya know...

Nice car, actually both are nice, but wise move going with the less miles, newer version. Ford's better these days anyway.

My friend Brian has had his Taurus for almost 9 years now. It's still going strong. Plus gas will be so much cheaper! It costs about $70 to fill up are SUVs. Enjoy the NEW car. YOu deserve it!

Nice Car!! hehe I have a '98. It's good on gas and easy to handle on the highway. My only complaint is not enough oompfh on steep hills (here in BC thats big stuff) but all in all a great family car. Good purchase!!

:D

MCB: That's true! I'm noticing them a lot more now too. Thanks, and I will! :)

Velma: It IS pretty nice! Good shape too...now if I could just remember to take my CDs with me so I can try the CD player! :)

Randi: It does seem to be the perfect family car...at least if you've only got two kids, unless they don't need carseats. :)

Aisha: I love a good road trip! We've got a mini road trip to take for Easter...going to my Grandparents'...then we have a family reunion to go to in a couple weeks, that's a couple hours drive! :)

Shannon: Thanks! We actually looked at a couple of Mountaineers when we were browsing around for a different vehicle, but they weren't in the best of shape.

Tornwordo: As much as I would've loved to keep the Durango, the sensible Mommy in me knows that this will be better for us. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Jenn: Thanks sweetie! :)

Alicia: That is very reassuring to me! Thank you! And yeah, I'm glad it's gonna be better on gas...it costs us right around $60 to fill up the van nowadays. Bleh!

Ryan: I know! The Durango is soooo pretty!!! Sigh. I hate being a grown up sometimes.

Chris: Thanks sweetie! I will...it's growing on me already! :)

Truckdriver: Yeah, it can be a pain, but I'm glad we're done! :)

Miss Lissa: Good thing there ain't a lot of steep hills here! LOL I'm so glad to be finding out this is a good car to have! :)

Roxi: Thanks! Yeah...me too honey, me too!

Kali: Thank you! I hope it lasts at LEAST until we get it paid for! :)

Well that sucks about the Durango, but my mom drives a Taurus and she loves it! I’ll think you will enjoy it. Congrats on the new car AND better gas mileage! Yippy!

I had a mercury Sable which is the sister car to the Taurus. Loved it, After a few years I sold it to my MIL and she is still driving it. I think it will be a good car for your family in that it has a large interior and it is a heavy vehicle and should protect you all pretty well if you should be in an accident. Good luck with it, Hon.

I have been looking at Durango's and Jeeps lately. I have a Saturn right now, sort of comparable to the Tauraas. I just want something a touch on the bigger side. Enjoy your new wheels!

Pretty car. I love the color!

We bought a Sable and it was a great car until we let oldest son drive it for a couple weeks. He tore up the transmission so bad it was never quite the same but before that, I loved it!

Enjoy your new car!

My mom drives a 2005 Ford Taurus. It is wicked nice, same color, a little smaller and it has a spoiler on it. Before that she had her 96 Taurus. It lasted her and her many trips here and there.
Nice family car.
