Been Busy!

Hope y'all had a good weekend! Mine was okay, just busy.

Friday we went to the DHS office to get some forms the caseworker said she had for us to use to try and get Meghan's SS#. All it ended up being was a copy of the court proceedings last time we had court, and an application for a SS# signed by her. So then we had to go BACK to the SS office, and this time we got called into the back instead of at a window. (I have no idea why.) We told the guy there what was going on and that we needed her SS#, showed him all our paperwork, he talked to his boss and now we have a SS# for Meghan!! YAY! Turns out she's had one all this time. Probably from when the hospital sent the information on her. Just nobody at DHS bothered to go find out what her number was...hell they didn't even bother to make sure they got a copy of her birth certificate, and just assumed her last name was the same as her bio mom's. It's not...it's the same as ours. Just like all the rest of the kids, with the exception of Kelsey, who is their mom's daughter from when she was married long ago.

That's a whole 'nother set of problems right there. Now I've got to get the caseworker to get Meghan's medical card changed to have the right name on it.

After all that, we were finally able to go down and get our paperwork in to have our taxes filed. We'll find out tomorrow what kind of refund we'll have.

Saturday we went out to the motorcycle shop to see about getting MrKB the bike he's been wanting forever. Financing for this particular bike was turned down due to "limited credit". A curse, I guess, of trying to avoid credit cards! All is not completely lost, because there's another place they sent us to for financing. I really hope it goes through because MrKB is driving me nuts on how much he wants a motorcycle. He told me that day that he "has everything he needs to be happy except for his bike." LOL Besides, it would be a good "second vehicle" that he can drive back and forth to work. It would leave me with the van so I'm not always stuck at home all day while he's at work, and it gets better gas mileage too.

Sunday I didn't do a whole lot of anything. Just hung around in my jammies all day and read some blogs, played games at Pogo. Needed to clean my house and do laundry, but I figured it'd still be there today. At least my kitchen is clean!

My nephew spent the night last night 'cuz MIL had to go to some sort of meeting at 8am this morning. I'll find out what that was all about when she comes to pick him up. He's STILL not in school anywhere. All the schools she looked into getting him transferred to are not taking new students right now. I kinda thought she might have this problem, with it being so close to the end of the school year. I just hope he doesn't end up having to repeat his grade from all the work he's missed. Poor kid.

This next Saturday is MrKB's birthday...he'll be 36 this year. That's one of the reasons why I really hope he gets his bike, that'll be like the best birthday present ever for him. Yes, I worry about him riding a motorcycle, but it's not like he's never rode before. Besides, he's a professional driver and has never had an accident. I figure since he drives 18 wheels all the time, 2 is not gonna be a problem! I am making sure that he definitely wears a helmet at all times though...can you believe there is not a helmet law in Oklahoma??! Makes no sense...gotta wear a seatbelt, and kids have to be in carseats until a certain age, but it's okay to splatter your brains all over the road on a motorcycle!

Well, that's it! Nothing incredibly exciting, but it's my life in a nutshell.

Oh yeah, one more thing....MrKB and I made time for each other last night, if ya know what I mean! :)

Mr. Coach tried to convince me to let him have a motorcylce to go to college with. It's an hour drive one way down NARROW country highways! It's dangerous enough road in an armored car, no way was I going to agree to a motorcycle. But they are economical on gas, etc. Hope he gets it!!!!

Congratulation on the last part about "making time" for each other. I don't call it that, I usually just call it sex. ;-)

Thats a good success story getting the Social Security number.

We don't have helmet laws in OH and I have ridden bikes without one. I know its safer with a helmet on but they're hot and uncomfortable and... I know you've heard it all before. I've been trying to get California Girl to let me have a motorcycle without much success. Maybe my dislike of helmets is one of the reasons why.

BTW: I'm a prety sane guy otherwise.

As much as I hate Mr. Diva's bike, I must admit that it saves us TONS of gas in the summer. Of course, every day he rides off on it I have flashbacks to the night he had his car vs. motorcycle wreck. *shudder* He nearly had his brains splattered all over the highway in front of Wal*Mart yet he still won't wear a helmet. I just don't get it. Just pray a lot if Mr. KB gets his bike!!
