I Hope Y'all Won't Be Too Disappointed...

I didn't quite make it a second day smoke-free...I had a cigarette...just one, but still. That's not too terribly awful is it? One cig in 2 days after smoking nearly a pack a day for years? I've been a smoker since I was 19, and I'm going on 34 now. Sigh...I'm trying not to beat myself up about it. I'm disappointed in myself.

The urge was just too much. The need was just too much. I was okay for the rest of the night after having a cig...so far this morning since putting on a fresh patch I am okay. MrKB had one too, so it wasn't just me. He'd gone even longer without one though...he smoked more than me, and had been a smoker longer than me. I hope he does okay today while he's out on the truck where he's used to smoking the most. It's gonna be tough for him today, I'm sure.

Oh, and to help keep me from being tempted again, the cigs were not my usual brand or type (I was a menthol smoker)...don't know if that matters.

Anyway, so now y'all know what I look like! My profile pic isn't very good, I know. In case ya missed it, I'm the one in the red sweater. :)

On to Day 3...

Hang in there. It's very very hard but stick with the patch. I started smoking at 14 yrs old. I'm 37. Smoked pack & half. If I can do it ANYONE can. When ya feel the urge again make yourself busy with cross stitch or a book. Anything to side track ya. :) You're doing awesome even with a little slip :)

Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I ever did, and one of the easiest. I tried a number of times to quit, but each time I went back to it because I enjoyed it. Or rather, I enjoyed the situations that were associated with smoking; being social on smoke breaks, going out with friends etc. I was unsuccessful with limiting, then with gum. When I finally decided to quit it was because I really wanted to. That day I stopped and never had another. Hang in there. If you really want to quit you can do it. You just really have to want it. :)

Don't beat yourself up aboaut it. YOu had one cigarette. YOu smoked it, it's over and now you are moving on. No one is perfect. It's really hard to quit.....no one said it was going to be easy! Go easy on yourself and be proud that you are even trying in the first place!! :)

I smoked about 15 years before I quit. I had a lot of relapses in the 2 years it took me to quite so don't be so hard on yourself. Just keep at it and you'll be fine.

Hey! It's over. You can't go back and change it. Move ahead.

I could totally tell it was you in the pic. Something about the smile. ;)

Don't be discouraged. My wife (Dana) and I quit together 16 years ago using hypnosis. It really worked. It turned off the switch in the brain that made me want to smoke. I cluck like a chicken, but at least I don't smoke anymore.
Trust me, you don't want cancer, not fun at all

One step at a time. It can be done. My parents are proof.

Dad smoked 2-3 packs a day and Mom 1-2 a day. They both stopped. For Dad it took a boat load of nicotine patches, but if he can, you can.

Don't give up.

Hi MKB! Ha! You're a better woman than I am, I couldn't make it past a day. Actually, I'm okay for about 5 days, but then for some reason by day 5 it's either climb the walls, do someone bodily harm, or smoke! You know, lots of people try the "cut down" method, lessening by one cigarette per day until it's gone, so one cigarette per day isn't so bad, so no beating yourself up!:)

It's kind of like sticking to a diet isn't it? I've never smoked, but my parent's all did, didn't, did, didn't....... I'm addicted to sunflower seeds, I've always said should I have to quit I'd start smoking. Maybe you need sunflower seeds!
